- Popularized by Ernest Peckinbaugh (spellings vary), Chattanooga, Tennessee. First known to sell it commercially; a bass angler and bass-bug tyer. Both sources say the first tyer is unknown.Source: A Year On The Fly: Tellico Nymph History, citing Southern Trout; also Gink & Gasoline <https://www.ginkandgasoline.com/gink-gasoline-fly-patterns/the-tellico-nymph/>
- Derived from McGinty (wet fly). Southern anglers adapted the McGinty bee wet fly that northern visitors brought south in the late 1800s.Source: A Year On The Fly: Tellico Nymph History; also Gink & Gasoline
