About this fly
Blue-Winged Olive (BWO) nymphs are moss creepers that spend most of their formative months crawling within dens mosses or resting under stones where trout cannot easily find them. They are found in the gravelly substrate of freestone streams, creeks, and tailwaters. BWO mayflies are known to fishermen as Blue-Winged Olives or simply Olives.
