About this fly
The original version uses a single bunch of pheasant tail fibers folded along the bottom of the hook shank, creating a simple yet effective imitation of aquatic insects. This "double" version, introduced in May 1963, uses two bunches of fibers-one tied mid-shank and another near the eye-for targeting larger fish like steelhead and salmon, but has also proven highly effective for trout (and even larger panfish).
