About this fly
an Andre’ Puyans nymph fly pattern using the recipes and instructions in The Founding Flies by Mike Valla and The Book of Fly Patterns by Eric Leiser For the wing case:cut a good pinch of barbs from a bronze mallard featherclip the butt ends straightmeasure from the butt ends twice the thorax lengthtie in at that mark behind the weighted wire by the tips with the tips pointing toward the tailclip out the tipsdub the abdomenwrap the rib, tie off, and remove extradub the thorax in front of the wing case material and lay the wing case forward over the eyemake just a couple wraps leaving room behind the eye for the dubbed head to secure the wing case For the legs:pick out three barb butts on each side of the thorax, fold back and tie over to hold in placeclip out the remaining center butt ends from the wing case feather barbs
