The pattern emerged from a fly tying session where a fly tier’s young son, inspired by bright, flashy materials, created a colorful soft hackle that stood out from the usual drab patterns.
The fly was named “Willowfish” by the young fly tier, and its name is a bit of a mystery, but the fly tier thought it was a strange name.
