Where the Dave's Hopper came from
- Originated by Dave Whitlock, 1957, Oklahoma. Conceived in the 1950s out of dissatisfaction with Joe's Hopper; combined that pattern with the spun deer-hair head of the Muddler Minnow, and used a single turkey feather over the top instead of two. Sources say "the 1950s" or "mid-1950s" rather than a firm year.Source: Wikipedia: Dave's Hopper; MidCurrent; RiverKeeper Flies
- Derived from Joe's Hopper. Keeps Joe's Hopper tail/body, single turkey wingSource: RiverKeeper Flies: Dave's Hopper Fly Pattern
