About this fly
Someone has suggested Mary Orvis Marbury’s book has a typo and this fly should be really be called a brown alder. However, Mary says this is an emerger imitation and not and Alder Fly imitation…so there’s that. From Favorite Flies and Their Histories (1892) by Mary Orvis Marbury as illustrated by Charles Orvis.
In the old books
Original dressing as pictured in Marbury, Favorite Flies and Their Histories (1892), Plate M, No. 95. The photo above is a later tie, not the original.
Inside the vault every material on this fly opens to its own card, and you can save the fly to your own boxes.
