Polar Flash Reflector Chenille

« Back to Glossary Index

Polar Flash Reflector Chenille maintains the same consistency and length as UV Polar Chenille, featuring a unique construction where half the fibers contain reflective, solid color mixed with translucent fibers. The material consists of micro-cut mylar strips integrated with long translucent fibers, all built around a thread core for easy wrapping. This lightweight, water-shedding material creates a mirror-like reflectance while maintaining natural movement in water.

The material excels in creating fishy-looking bodies on streamers, intruders, saltwater flies, and stillwater patterns. It’s particularly effective for scuds, nymphs, streamer bodies, and saltwater patterns. The versatility extends to salmon and steelhead flies, as well as warmwater species like smallmouth bass and saltwater species including jack crevalle and striped bass. It serves exceptionally well as a body or collar material and can enhance larger Wooly Buggers when additional flash is desired. The material’s translucent fibers undulate in water similarly to marabou, while the reflective elements provide enhanced visibility across various water conditions. The combination of natural movement and flash creates an enticing presentation that effectively attracts fish. Available in numerous colors, it allows precise pattern matching while maintaining excellent water-shedding properties and lightweight characteristics. While UV Polar Chenille shares the same long fibers and thread core construction, it differs by incorporating UV properties instead of reflective flash. This alternative provides a more subtle presentation, making it particularly suitable for clear water conditions and selective fish. The material’s unique properties make it especially effective for creating movement and flash in larger patterns. Its easy-wrapping characteristics, combined with the dual-fiber composition, allow tiers to create patterns with both flash and natural movement. The material’s reflective properties ensure pattern visibility across various water conditions, while its lightweight nature maintains proper presentation in the water column.
