Brad Wright’s Taneycomo Sculpin
Measure the rabbit strip to twice the hook shank
Pierce the rabbit strip with the hook at the half way point from the leather side so the hook is in the hair
Mount the hook in the vise pulling the rabbit strip out of the way toward the vise tip
Attach the eyes on the top of the hook shank using figure eight wraps
Spiral wrap the tread to the hook bend; split the rabbit hair and tie on the rabbit strip above the barb; pull down on the body part of the rabbit strip and spiral wrap the thread on the hook shank back to behind the eyes
Invert the hook
Tie in the front end of the rabbit strip behind the eyes and trim off the excess
Tie in and wrap the hackle behind the eyes: tie off and clip excess
Create a dubbing noodle with the gray scud dubbing; wrap behind the eyes, figure eights over the eyes, and on the snout
Whip finish and head cement on the knot
