Material:
1. Underbody Bonnie craft cord 3 strands
2. Tail & Overwing White Bucktail
3. Mylar braid 3/16 dia.
4. Tab Eyes 5mm (3/16)
5. Solarez UV adhesive between and over eyes and to adhere the overwing.
6. DAP Quick Seal Ultra Silicon Sealant Clear over body
Build the body with Bonnie craft cord.
Lay three strands flat and bind down starting at where barb would be. Don’t wrap but lay cord flat to ensure a natural baitfish profile. Double back one strand on top and two strands on the bottom; bind at the half way point and trim. This forms the belly and the back profile.
Cut a section of braided Mylar 2-1/2 times the body length.
Fit Mylar braid over the hook eye and bind down @ 3/16 from the hook eye. Cut the thread and add a sparse drop of super glue. Push the braid toward the rear of the hook. Stop the braid at the hook barb then reverse the braid direction and go toward the hook eye. Reattach the thread over the braid at the tail and bind down. Next add a sparse drop of super glue to hold thread. Attach thread @ 3/16” from the hook eye. Stretch braid to hook eye and secure with thread to finish the body. Add a drop of super glue to secure.
Reverse tie in bucktail overwing.
Tie in tab eyes and apply Solarez between and over eyes. Be sure to add enough resin to hold the overwing down. Hit it with a UV light source.
The following step may be omitted from the process but is added for durability and to give the body a soft lifelike feel.
Mix the silicone in a shallow cup with water to the consistency of honey. Note the color will be white but goes clear when dry.
Prop up the bucktail overwing with your fingers and apply the silicone mixture over the body with a paint brush.
When the body is covered with silicone use a hair dryer set on low until the silicone is mostly clear. Pull the overwing back over the sticky body and allow silicone to completely dry overnight.
