Notes:

I have also had great success with this fly for catfish as well. So what is a Bowfin? This species is considered a primitive species since they contain morphological characteristics of their early ancestors dating back some 250 million years ago. Their closest living relatives of bowfins are gars.

Bowfin is a stalking, ambush predator that customarily moves into the shallows at night to prey on fish, and aquatic invertebrates such as crawfish, mollusks, and aquatic insects. Bowfin are remarkably agile, can move quickly through the water, and they have a voracious appetite. Oxygen-poor environments can be tolerated because of their ability to breathe air.

The Shag Worm is a great fly to imitate a crawfish which is one of the Bowfin’s food choices.
