Notes:
The Golden Retriever has been catching fish for nearly 25 years. Jim Finn developed the pattern at his fly shop in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and it quickly became a customer favorite. The fly was originally tied as a smallmouth pattern, but he soon learned that the brown trout in Mossy Creek were suckers for it. This fly absolutely slays brookies and rainbows. Consider tying the Golden Retriever on a size 10 3X long hook. It can be effectively fished like a streamer or a nymph. My experience with this fly it is the quickest and easiest streamer you can tie. Enjoy!
