You need to have a grasshopper style fly in your fly box. The version that I will tie in the video could date back to the 1650s when the “Compleat Angler” by Izaac Walton had identified in the book as one of the twelve flies that all anglers should have in their fly box. There are how 100s of grasshopper patterns that have been developed either using natural materials to the present day foam grasshoppers. Some fly fishers might even say that the grasshopper fly pattern could also be a copy of the caddis fly with the basic tent style of the wing.
