Grannom

Classic Wet Fly
Tied By Christian Andrews
Hook: #6 sproat straight eye
Thread: claret
Body Parts: tail, butt, abdomen, thorax, hackle, wings
Materials: green silk tuft, green silk, orange floss, brown floss, webby (soft) ginger rooster, wild turkey tail slips
Notes:
from the illustration in Favorite Flies and Their Histories (1892) by Mary Orvis Marbury
NOTE:
The Orvis flies were tied on blind hooks to which a gut leader was lashed.
The Orvis flies were tied with either black or red thread (silk). When lacquer was applied to the head, the red turned dark. So, I’ve opted to tie with claret thread since the head cement I use dries clear.
