About this fly
This is a north country spider pattern with modern substitutions. The pattern calls for a darker head that was darkened by wax. In this case superglue was enough to darken the head to about the right color.
What the Light Snipe imitates
- Mayfly dun (adult dry)
Tied for: Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Trout (general)
In the old books
Original dressing as pictured in Edmonds & Lee, Brook and River Trouting (1916), Plate p36, No. 9. The photo above is a later tie, not the original.
Inside the vault every material on this fly opens to its own card, and you can save the fly to your own boxes.
