Polar Chenille

« Back to Glossary Index

Polar Chenille features long, loose, translucent fibers that create undulating movement in the water, similar to marabou. With fibers approximately 1 inch in length, this chenille is highly versatile, making it suitable for a variety of fly patterns in both freshwater and saltwater environments. Each package contains 5 yards of material. Polar Chenille is commonly used in patterns for trout, steelhead, salmon, and warm water species, as well as saltwater flies like shrimp and baitfish imitations. It excels in freshwater leech patterns and is particularly popular for tying the Bi-Polar Worm bass fly. This chenille can also be used as a flashy hackle substitute on Woolly Buggers, wet flies, and spey flies, providing significant movement in the water. Additionally, the fibers can be easily trimmed to create a shorter or more compact body, depending on the desired effect.
