My take on my creation of a shad fly is a modern-day variation of a woolly worm. This fly as a short tail as shad are well known to behave with short strikes. This is the reason that the tail is only 1/2 inch long. Also, bright colors are recommended for the shad to see the fly to deter it from possibly eating their eggs.
