Materials-
tail: two black saddle hackle feathers tied to flare apart
body: spun and clipped deer ; originally yellow, but use color as desired
Notes:
a Helen Shaw bass fly using the pattern in The Founding Flies by Mike Valla
First bunch of hair: stack and tie in with tips over tail. Leave tips unclipped when shaping the body.
Last bunch of hair: tie in on top only at hook eye to help create slanted “popper” front.
Lacquer or “goop” front face.
