A “Polly” Rosborough fuzzy nymph from the photo and recipe in The Founding Flies by Mike Valla
Polly washed the body fur and created a felt ball. He then took hair from that felt and rolled it into a tapered spindle. He attached the spindle to the shank at the tail and then twisted it into a dubbing loop. A special lacquer was generously applied to the hook prior to and during wrapping the body
An Ostrich flue is a clump of Ostrich herl. Flue is the term in the recipe in The Founding Flies. The wing case is tied in by the flue butt ends under the head and cut square 1/4 of the shank length.
