Notes:
an Andre’ Puyans nymph fly pattern using the recipes and instructions in The Founding Flies by Mike Valla and The Book of Fly Patterns by Eric Leiser
For the wing case:
cut a good pinch of barbs from a bronze mallard feather
clip the butt ends straight
measure from the butt ends twice the thorax length
tie in at that mark behind the weighted wire by the tips with the tips pointing toward the tail
clip out the tips
dub the abdomen
wrap the rib, tie off, and remove extra
dub the thorax in front of the wing case material and lay the wing case forward over the eye
make just a couple wraps leaving room behind the eye for the dubbed head to secure the wing case
For the legs:
pick out three barb butts on each side of the thorax, fold back and tie over to hold in place
clip out the remaining center butt ends from the wing case feather barbs
