Materials- tail: Blue eared pheasant, pheasant but, marabou body: Med tinsel your choice on color or holographic flash. body: Dubbing blend or just dubbing I like to use seal fur body: Floss, Hen hackle, colors use something that’s going to offset the tail but give a lot of movement to the fly head: Same as the tail, blue eared pheasant, pheasant but, marabou and you can use a variety of soft hackles here, just looking for more movement articulation: Steel wire, not a fan but it works, Amnesia 15-20 lb test with a bead between the 2 hooks
Notes:
It’s a fun fly to fish based off a peanut envy, start with the rear. Tie in the tail, here’s where you can be creative you can tie in a soft hackle the hackle doesn’t have to be super long but you don’t want it to be super short either. Tie it in from the tips, while wrapping fold the feather in half 1 to 3 tight wraps depending on the look you’re going for. Next take your pheasant but feather and tie that in by tips. The tips should ideally be twice as long as the soft hackle. Fold the feather in half make 2-4 tight wraps and lock it in.
Body: tie in your soft hackle, tinsel, floss etc, anything you like to add to the body. Wrap the floss up the hook shank leaving 2 eye widths from the eye of the hook, next wrap the flash up the shank of the hook, next wrap the tinsel on backside or frontside of the tinsel. Now take your hackle feather and wrap it on the backside of the tinsel. Bring all the way up to where the floss ends and secure it.
Head:
Grab another hackle feather and tie it in like you would if you were tying a woolly bugger, 1 to 2 wraps while folding the feather, next grab another pheasant but feather and tie it in from the tips 2-3 wraps while folding the feather 1 secure wrap, lift the pheasant but feathers to the top whip finish.
loop in a piece of amnesia add a couple oversized beads tie on to the next hook. Leave a little bit of space so the back half of the fly can move freely.
2nd hook: rinse wash and repeat but add a bead, or a cone or a disc.
