UV2 Scud Shrimp Dub from Spirit River
Designed specifically for tying scuds, UV2 Scud Shrimp Dubbing effectively mimics one of the most common trout foods found in rivers and streams. Its formulation includes a hint of pearl blue Lite Brite, adding shimmer that enhances the realism of scud patterns.
UV2 technology employs a double dye process to infuse all materials and flies with ultraviolet fluorescence (UVF) and ultraviolet reflectance (UVR). UV fluorescence is utilized in various applications, while UV reflectance comprises wavelengths invisible to the human eye but crucial in nature. For instance, mayflies use it to attract mates, and bees locate flowers. Fish are also sensitive to these wavelengths, making UV materials increasingly popular in fly fishing due to their effectiveness.
UV2 dubbing incorporates micro flecks of mylar for subtle flash, along with Spirit River’s proprietary dye process that reflects and fluoresces UV light. These colors are tailored for abundant trout food sources but are versatile enough for other applications beyond shrimp and scuds.
