Notes:
The Blue Dun is a classic dry fly pattern that was originated to imitate the early mayfly hatches. This dry fly works for a number of hatches including the Blue Winged Olives, Hendricksons, Blue Quills and Quill Gordons. Like many old-style imitation of mayflies, its wings are made of fiber segments from mallard duck wing feathers, making it much more delicate than hair or feather fibers in my tying this small blue dun in a size 20 dry fly hook, I decided to use Z-Lon for the wing.
