tail: Dun or Black Goose biots
body: Sulphur Orange or Slate gray dubbing
hackle: Medium dyed Dun
wings: Gray hackel tips or matching duck quill wings

I have provided the original recipe for the Fly. Two of the original flies are pictures below. I changed a little color in the one I have tied. The Smokey Mountain Fork Tail is a Fly of myth and legend -no one is sure of its origin or creator. It’s also a Fly known by many local old timers to be a consistent producer. If you are looking for a classic Fly to tie or fish just try this one.
