Strip the fibers from a flexible saddle feather or peacock herl
Pepare a partridge soft hackle feather by stripping off all but about 1/3 to 1/4 of the fibers at the tip of the feather; pinch the tip and stroke the remaining fibers toward the butt to create a tie in tip
Lay down a thread base beginning a good eye length behind the eye to the hook bend and back
Tie in the stripped feather quill by the tip wrapping to the hook bend and back
Touching wraps the quill to the tie in point a good eye length behind the eye; tie off; snip extra
Tie in a Peacock herl; wrap three or four times to create the thorax; tie off; snip extra
Tie in the partridge hackle by the tip behind the eye with shiny side up; clip off tip; wrap hackle to the bare stem; tie off; clip stem
Whip finish; head cement
