When adding the skirt legs, take your thread back into the body a bit. Start them on top or the bottom and fold the over in the opposite direction capturing them into the body by about the width of your bodkin. Bring the thread to the front and make a wedge. No need to cover it up. Let it be a bit messy. It just adds to the appeal.
